CHNM is defining digital humanities for the next generation of academics, librarians, and museum professionals. In an age of almost infinite digital information, CHNM is building the tools and knowledge that scholars need to manage this abundance.
The National Endowment for the Humanities has recognized CHNM’s significance by awarding a rare Challenge Grant to build an endowment that will secure its infrastructure and innovation funding. The grant will provide $750,000 if CHNM raises $2.25 million of endowment funds, which will give CHNM the ability to explore new projects and emerging technologies.
Funds for the CHNM/NEH Challenge Grant will be managed by the George Mason University Foundation, Inc. and contributions are tax deductable to the full extent allowable by the law.
Gifts for the CHNM/NEH Challenge Grant may also be mailed to:
GMU Foundation, Inc.
4400 University Drive, MS 1A3
Fairfax, VA 22030
Checks should be payable to the GMU Foundation, Inc. and indicate in the memo section that the gift is for the CHNM/NEH Challenge Grant. Gifts may also be made online at give.gmu.edu, specifying the CHNM/NEH Challenge Grant in the comment section.
Each year CHNM’s many project websites receive over 16 million visitors, and more than a million people rely on its digital tools to teach, learn, and conduct research. CHNM’s work as been recognized with major awards and grants from the American Historical Association, the National Humanities Center, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Department of Education, the Library of Congress, the Institute of Museums and Library Services, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the Mellon, Sloan, Hewlett, Rockefeller, Gould, Delmas, and Kellogg foundations.
With your support, CHNM can continue to provide the resources and technologies needed to preserve the future of the past. Thank you!
