Shana Bushyhead Condill is a citizen of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) and a first year Ph.D. student at George Mason University. Condill currently serves as the Executive Director of the Museum of the Cherokee People, the tribal museum of the EBCI. Condill has worked in the museum and cultural field for over twenty years and is committed to cultivating Native representation and self-representation in public spaces. Condill was most recently at the National Gallery of Art, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and The 200 Acres, a sixth-generation farm in central Illinois. Presently, Condill serves on the board of the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area and was appointed to the North Carolina Historical Commission. Condill advocates for the intentional combining of mainstream best practices with Native best practices in cultural preservation.
